Protein Protein

A year and a half ago, I started a new workout program based on what something I found on the internet. I found Vince Delmonte and his "skinny guy muscle builders." Now I don't want to get into the details on Vince, because that's not what this post is about, but I do want to say that you should definitely look him up, pick a program that fits your goal(s), and do exactly what he said......trust me...it works.

Now, back to the story, one of the things I learned about was program powder. And thus began my research on types, flavors, amount, etc that continues to this very day. After a few attempts at finding a flavor that I could actually stand (chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla are good for ice cream, not protein). That flavor was Fruit Blast strawberry kiwi by 4Ever Fit. This protein is low in calories and carbs and 25 grams of protein per serving, its a pretty good deal.
But of course, anything that is that amazing, comes with a price. And during the time when my budget was low, I was forced to get the cheap stuff. I had gotten some from Walmart before, but wasn't willing to go back to that. And so, I went to GNC and got the store brand. Granite,  the cheap stuff of GNC isn't bad and I in know way say anything about about it, but I didn't want a blend of Whey, I wanted Isolate...the real thing.

With that in mind, the next brand I'm discussing is GNC Performance AMP Wheybolic Extreme 60. Now, this protein is a bit pricey, but wait until Gold card week and you can get two 3 pound containers for about $61. Available in the 3 standby flavors, you can also get fruit punch.....which became my go-to for the past 3 months Even though there is only 20 grams of protein per serving, it does have whey isolate, plus hydrolyzed whey, which enters the blood stream at an immensely high speed. It may only be my imagination, but this protein pumps me up before workouts and I can feel it working after. I was perfectly happy with this brand, until a week ago when I ran out and I was flat broke.

That's when I went to my standby site, bodybuilding.com, where I can use PayPal's BillMeLater and not worry about my sad, sorry bank account. Of course, this does nothing to help my credit score. As a post-college student that hasn't had a real job in the past month and is gradually learning how not to spend the money I have, when I actually have it, I certainly don't need anymore debt. However, using protein makes me happy and makes me feel like my efforts at the gym are actually worth something. Anyway, this time, I wanted to go back to my fruit and considered buying 4Ever Fit again, but then I kept looking around the site just because. That's when I found Optimum Nutrition...A good price, good flavor variety, good reviews, and good ingredients. An hour later, I decided to put my fruit on hold and go with ON. Even though there were some good flavors, upon closer inspection at the ingredients, I decided that I didn't want some of them in my protein, and so I decided to go with vanilla ice cream...yes, yes, I know what I said, but I figured that I could add stuff to it and make it less disgusting. Therefore, I ordered it from Bodybuilding.com and we'll see what happens.

As a last point, Bodybuilding's does have lower prices than most other supplement companies, their shipping may be a little pricey. However, their shipments usually arrive in 2-3 days...not a bad deal considering how long it usually takes me to actually decide what I want.
